HAVE YOU SAID THANK YOU FOR THE HARD THINGS?

Listen to this post

Remembering to be thankful can be a challenge in and of itself, but being thankful for the hard things in life is even moreso. How can we show gratitude for things that cause us pain, that hurt our hearts and are seemingly so meaningless?

I don’t have the answers, and I struggle with this as much as anyone. But I hope that these questions may encourage us to think differently about the challenges we face and adopt a gratitude for them that we may not have had before.

I. Do you believe that every difficulty we go through in life has a purpose? Why or why not? If yes, what might that purpose be?

II. Trials often bring perspective: are the challenges you’re going through shifting your priorities? Are you spending your time, energy and resources on what truly matters?

III. Sometimes, it’s not about us. Can what we’ve experienced help someone else? How can we use our losses for their gain?

IV. What are our trials teaching us about God, who He is and how He’s working in our lives? Could we grow in our faith without them?

My hope is that as we reflect, we may grow in our faith, deepen our relationships with others, and find a peace and thankfulness that only comes from the Lord.
